In the tradition of Neal Hefti’s classic “L’il Darlin’”, 3am is a warm tutti ensemble ballad in the swing style that opens with a brief written solo for piano and features improvised solos for muted trumpet and tenor sax. Written solos are provided as well. Trumpet range is to written top space E in the staff. Flugelhorns are optional.
