17 four- to seven-part transmissions for brass (trombone choir) timpani ad lib., Interpretation instructions from the editor.
The adaptation of Bach's choral movements for the trombone choirs is common practice. To complement and expand the repertoire, suitable movements from cantatas, orchestral works and organ and piano music have been selected in the present edition and arranged for brass. The short dance movements (minuet, gavotte, marche), fantasies, fugues and songs are particularly suitable for trumpets and trombones and can be combined into suites. The experienced wind choir leader and wind composer Rolf Schweizer supervised the selection and furnishing and provided the pieces with notes on interpretation.
