James Miley brings to Sierra another hip arrangement of a great contemporary tune. This Soundgarden piece is masterfully scored for the modern big band, making great use of interesting saxophone effects, a wonderful rhythm section feel, neat rhythmic ideas, and very playable ensemble parts (optional written D for trumpet). The melody is stated by the tenor saxophone and trumpet with warm, dissonant backgrounds provided by the ensemble. You get to choose the soloists (tenor saxophone, trumpet and/or trombone) making this very flexible for emphasizing the strengths of your band. 5-4-4-4 (6.45)
