Instrumentation: Vln 1, Vln 2, Vln 3, Vla, Cello, Bass, PianoCopy Cat is based on a call and response idea, mainly seen between the upper and lower voices. Suitable for beginner players with some experience, it is a fun piece which explores a range of string techniques including natural harmonics, pizzicato and slurs. Many voices are in unison with another part at some point to help secure stability within the orchestra and there is a simple piano part as well (though not necessary for performance). A great piece to ease established groups into the new school year or as a more advanced piece for beginners later on, Copy Cat is sure to become a favourite!Neridah Oostenbroek has been teaching strings and classroom music in Brisbane for 20 years.
