Karl Ditters Von Dittersdorf (1739-1799) was an Austrian composer and violinist. He was well-known by Mozart and Haydn, and often played string quartets with them, together with his pupil Johann Baptist Wanhal. Unlike his contemporaries, his compositional style is dominated by lyrical Italianate melodic progression rather than extended harmonic development.
