Four brilliantly contrasting movements. From red-hot dazzling opening, Ticheli weaves a sparkling array of textures, timbre, and twists. The next movement is a meander through gorgeous, peaceful fields, with sweet solos, for the band. In the stunning 3rd movement - a delicately spinning storm - Ticheli's "Magic Carpet" rains icily transparent. The hard-edged 4th movement, "LA noir" (I am reminded of The Sorcerer's Apprentice of Dukas as if brought to 21st Century streets) just steals the show!
