Featuring your under-exposed baritone saxophone player, Groanin’ owes a lot to Bobby Timmons’ Moanin’ in it’s call and response melody. Its energy is higher though with a driving, rocky groove. The band still has plenty to play, pumping out the intro, bridge and plenty of backings. An entertaining and celebratory chart that should please band and audience alike.
