This Curnow original was inspired by the fact that there aren’t a lot of bass features available for up-and-coming bassists. The tempo is set at about 100, and the chart opens up with your bass player soloing (written or improved) for 12 bars before the band moves in with a cool, quiet, rich statement of the theme. The bassist then solos (written or improvised) for another 24 bars before the full band comes roaring in with a strong statement. The soloist then continues for a bit before the band takes over again. The piece ends as it began, with the band stating that cool statement of the theme to the end. Give your bass player a shot. She (or he) deserves it. Two different bass parts are included; one with a written solo throughout and one with just changes for the more mature player. Moderate ranges for all makes this a very accessible chart for most bands. 5-4-4-4
