Instrumentation: Vln 1, Vln 2, Vln 3, Vla, Cello, BassHoedown is a fun piece for intermediate ensembles and is sure to get some toes tapping! The energetic melody begins in the violins and is then passed around the ensemble. The middle section sees a move to D major and there are some open string drones in the upper voices. There are syncopated rhythms throughout which can be challenging when played alone but fit well when incorporated with the other parts. The 1st violin has some 3rd position work but all other parts remain in 1st position.Neridah Oostenbroek has been teaching strings and classroom music in Brisbane for 20 years.
