Ševcík’s œuvre covers every area of violin technique, from the elementary level to special exercises on individual technical problems all the way to analytical studies of the best-known violin concertos. One of his most important pedagogical works is his opus 8, written between 1892 and 1895.
This volume of exercises is devoted to changes of position and preparatory studies for scales over three octaves (in 3rds, 6ths, octaves and 10ths). Our new edition is based essentially on the original print, issued in the early 20th century, and on sources from Ševcík’s posthumous papers. The editor, Jaroslav Foltýn, is professor of violin at Prague Conservatory, a position once held by Ševcík himself.
• A fundamental pedagogical work from a superb violin teacher • With methodological notes by the editor (Cz/Eng/Ger) • Moderate level of difficulty
