The Sword Dance? well, it's a bit of a tan- go, and that woodblock part, it might be the most essential such part in the history of woodblock music. (Temple blocks, another story entirely, that goes to Ravel.) Margolis has gotten quite a bit of mileage from Susato, Gervaise, and Praetorius, but this work is great fun without the histrionics of Terpsichore or the wry humour of Festival ... and, what about those woodblocks? It's a solo, so make it work!
