Smooth legato and accurate counting are important in this delightful, lyrical work by Loreta Fin. Some extension work is required in the violins. Bow speeds and divisions should be carefully considered in all parts. Left-hand fingers should be firm, for a clear, ringing pizzicato. Songbirds provides many opportunities to practice vibrato on sustained notes. A piano part is included but is not essential. (2:40)
