Commissioned by Bloomington High School North, in Bloomington, Indiana, this swinging chart is a true shuffle in the tradition of Jerome Richardson's "The Groove Merchant" as performed by the Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Big Band. With a 130bpm tempo, this chart is very accessible and is a great chart for teaching style and Swinging with a Capital S. Trumpet and Tenor Sax solos are separated by a clever interlude before moving on to a shout section that will really show off the band's dynamic contrast as the energy moves between the brass and saxes.
